Our Story
That's where you come in
If you only do one thing for yourself this week
It doesn't take long to start recognizing faces when you work in a town of 607 people. You get to know the lady who baked pies and knits blankets to give away. You recognize the guy who worked on your dad's pickup, or the man who trimmed the trees at your grandmas' house. People start calling you by your name whether you know them or not, but you just smile and ask how their day is going because you know that somewhere along the line we all might need each other to band together against forest fires, or floods, or hard winters.
That's the type of town I worked in as a barista for 3 years. While I worked there I realized something I'll never forget; You have the power to make someone feel valued.
I would visit other coffee shops in other towns and frequently, I realized that Baristas would treat coffee and the people they served as the same: something that needed to be dealt with. The coffee they made wasn't an art or a way to transfer hope, life and value, it was a way to get paid. We all need to make a living, but I believe it is possible to make a positive impact and make a living at the same time.
That is when I started to see coffee as more than just a commodity. Coffee became a messenger of hope and joy. The more I made and the more often I was able to interact with the people I served, the more I realized that that, right there, was what I wanted to do. I asked myself, "Is it possible to change someone's week in the time that it takes to make them a coffee?"

The answer...
Well, that depends on you.
